Ciara McMahon received a first (commended) Joint Honors Degree in Fine Art Practice and Art History at NCAD. Her work is project based and collaborative, and draws on her experience of working as a GP (medical). Her research based work frequently engages with philosophical theories, particularly those of phenomenology and is influenced by feminist readings of psychoanalysis.
Ciara is due to graduate from the National College of Art and Design on the Art in the Contemporary World (combined pathway) masters program in December 2010. The work is manifest through events, video, installation and photography.

Ciara is a board member of Smashing Times Theatre Company. In 2010, she was awarded
an Artist in the Community Award (Phase2) by the Arts Council managed by Create the
national agency for collaborative arts and a bursary to attend the Theory and Philosophy
Summer School, Cork.
Future exhibitions in 2011 include Liminality, NCAD gallery and Mutual:Esteem,
Ennistymon Courthouse Gallery. Her work is in the collection of the OPW, Ireland
